THE PURPOSE OF PEARL STREET
The Church is a fellowship. A top priority in a fellowship is harmony and unity. We have an organizational structure that promotes unity and downplays differences. We accomplish this by limiting the congregation voting to a few major decisions (calling ministry staff, borrowing money and purchasing property). Because we work as Ministry Teams, each Team is given the authority needed to implement the responsibilities they have been given. Pastors and Ministry Staff, as administrations give oversight to the church vision and mission and work in coordination with the various Ministry Team Leaders. Deacons are men who have a passion to serve, minister and care for the body. These men lead by example in faith and witness. The Biblical model of Elder Leadership has been considered in the past and is continuing to be researched and prayed about.
Simple Structure is modeled by the first churches in the Book of Acts. Ministry Focus is taught in Ephesians 4: 11-13, Romans 12:3-8, and 1 Corinthians 12. Mission Priority is taught in Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:46-49, and Acts 1:8. One of the ways we encourage participation in ministry is by having Ministry Teams. Ministry Teams give everyone the opportunity to share their gifts and practice serving.
